LLANDUDNO

Queen of the North Wales Resorts

Known as the Queen of Resorts, Llandudno is a thriving holiday and shopping centre, with a host of attractions, including a pier, theatre, parks and gardens.

Llandudno lies between two notable carboniferous headlands, the Great Orme and the Little Orme with the Irish Sea on one side and the estuary of the River Conwy on the other.
It is these headlands and the two waterfronts, the North Shore and the West Shore, that give the tourist resort of Llandudno its special appeal.
The 2,295 foot long Llandudno Victorian Pier, greatly admired by Sir John Betjeman, was built in 1878.
It is the longest pier in Wales and one of the finest recreational piers in Britain.

The Llandudno landing stage, which was rebuilt in concrete in 1969, is still used by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company for occasional excursions from Llandudno to Douglas and by the Waverley and Balmoral Steamer Preservation organisations who offer a number of excursions to and from Llandudno each year.

Llandudno is proud of its carefully planned Victorian town centre with its wide streets and attractive sea front including its broad uncluttered promenade and invites visitors to take the Town Trail which is a carefully planned walk round Llandudno's interesting streets.

It is at the West Shore that one finds an excellent model boating pool and a delightful piece of sculpture in honour of Miss Alice Liddell (1852-1934) for whom Lewis Carroll's famous children's stories "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Alice through the looking glass" were named.

This year we spent a "Christmas Cracker" break in Llandudno at the Belmont Hotel and had a most enjoyable time. (see below)
The top photograph shows a visit from TWO Father Christmases! and below is the group at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
(we can spell it even though we can't say it!)

We can also offer the following short breaks at THE BROADWAY HOTEL, MORCAMBE and the excellent ST ANNES HOTEL, ST ANNES-ON-SEA.
Both of these hotels have excellent disabled facilities.

The Broadway Hotel
"Early Spring Break" Mon 26th March - Fri 30th March
£185.00 half board - includes all transport &
daily excursions
MORCAMBE

The Bay (famous for its 'Cross Bay Walks') is an important breeding ground for thousands of migratory birds. The Bay's wildlife is also the inspiration for award-winning public art known as The Tern Project . This has enriched Morecambe's five mile stretch of level promenade (and the extended Stone Jetty) with innovative sculptures and pavement games such as magpie hopscotch.

The most famous sculpture must be the Eric Morecambe Statue. In typical comic pose, Eric Morecambe brings inimitable sunshine to millions of visitors! His life is just one of the themes for regular heritage walks. The steps of Dame Thora Hird too are traced along a guided walk. "Echoes of Art Deco" celebrates great 1930s buildings like the Midland Hotel that is currently being restored.

Happy Mount Park has tranquil gardens and crown green bowling as well as an indoor play area and new Aqua Park.
Originally created in the 1920s the park has been revived and has activities for all ages including play areas, swingboats, miniature railway, bowling green, miniature golf, putting green, crazy golf, paddling pool, trampolines, roundabout, multi-purpose sports surface, Japanese garden, cafe, ice cream kiosk and picnic area. During the summer there are band concerts given by many of the area's finest musicians.

In Morecambe's centre, indoor and outdoor markets attract crowds of bargain hunters.

St Annes Hotel
"Turkey & Tinsel Break" Mon 19th Nov - Fri 23rd Nov
£240.00 half board - includes all tranport & daily
excursions
ST ANNES-ON-SEA

St.Annes-on-Sea offers a gentler and more peaceful location than it's larger neighbour, Blackpool. Its Victorian Pier, bandstand and quality accommodation reflect the ambience of a more traditional seaside resort.

The blend of a spacious shopping Square, street entertainment throughout the summer months, lovely parks and gardens brimming with flowers are reminicent of a bygone era, whilst Pleasure Island and Salters Wharf provide lots of family fun, whatever the weather.

St Annes has a great reputation for offering superior hospitality to its guests and residents alike. The town has developed four of the best golf courses in the country these being the Royal Lytham, the Old Links, Green Drive and Fairhaven Golf Club.
